The rainfall across the region is starting to lessen, and most of the rivers have reached their peaks.
Road closures currently include:
• State Highway 6 - Pelorus Bridge to Canvastown, flooding
• State Highway 60 - Tākaka to Collingwood, flooding
• State Highway 60 - between Park Avenue and Central Tākaka Road, treefall and downed powerlines. Local road detour available via Dodson Road.
• State Highway 60 - between Riwaka River Bridge and Riwaka Kaiteriteri Road (Cook’s Corner), flooding
Other roads include:
• Waimea West Road
• Telenius Road
• Paton Road
Note: The Brightwater Bridge is now open, but is being monitored. If it closes we will update this post.
Surface flooding is also reported at State Highway 6 near Wakefield, State Highway 6 Stoke, between Quarantine Road and Salisbury Road, and State Highway 63 Birch Hill, near the Wye River Bridge
Please take care on our roads. Crews are out in the region and more will be known in daylight.
Keep clear of floodwaters, as they may contain hidden debris, or be contaminated.
